Llandegla improvements
Hey, just got back from riding at 'degla with Ad. We got soaked but it was worth it. He hired a bike and gave it a good seeing to. "nothing corners like a hire bike" (shawn denny-drop in tv). There are now alot more black sections. If you have ridden the black section which opened in the summer (the downhill which was stupid slippy but occasionally brilliant with the climb back up to the red trail), then you are in for a treat. On the climb back up from the dh black you reach a junction with timber stacks around it. If you go left at the T you see signs for the new black sections. The 1st section is similar to the previous black dh but quickly flattens out and sends you up onto a north shore style ladder bridge thing which is about 10ft high. The good thing is its also a metre wide but its still a little disconcerting at first (there is a pic of somebody riding the ladder on the gallery section on coedllandegla.com). After riding the ladder theres a quick climb which puts you back on the fireroad. You carry on for a short while on the fireroad before you drop back into singletrack. This section is similar in style to the black dh but hasn't got any tricky off camber parts. The jumps are also slightly bigger but all still rollable. This carries on for a good way and is so much fun. It really flows and is very smooth, there is hardly a need to pedal, ideal! You get the feeling that theres a climb coming and luckilly its not that bad. You soon get up the singletrack climb before you are going downhill again. The new section finishes with a climb back up to the red route which you join after the steep climb and before the original black run. I spoke to jimmy in the bike shop and they are revising the trail map shortly. Give us a shout if after reading my description you are a bit lost, Im well up for goin again soon.

Sounds awsome and well worth a trip soon buddy. Glad you enjoyed it. Last time you went you said it was busy and muddy. Were these still a problem (doesnt sound like it), but thought I would ask. Sorry that I wasnt able to talk earlier by the way - was visiting M+D.
Would be well up for a trip over when I get my bike sorted out. Will talk to you soon and let you know how things are going. Ian - hope that your weekend was good and see you soon. Cheers. N
It was definitely worth the trip. Was good to ride new things. The new section is cool, you can see the track twisted and turning all over the woods. Yeh it was busy, suprised me because it was wet. I think the best thing to do is either to get there early or to go in the week. It was muddy in places but still rideable. Me and matt and possibly Ian are going this sat. Going to get there early so we can park.
About time they sorted Llandegla out.
Be nice to see some technical bits as well.
Still not sure about riding this wknd depends how much work I can get done.
Just found out I don't have lectures yet which is awesome!
Whats wrong with ur bike neil?
Take it easy
I dont mind mud as long as it is rideable / good.
Sounds very good to me. Dont mind the carpark being busy either really as long as it isnt wheel to wheel with lycra freaks on the trail (however, this is often amusing on the technical DHs etc!)
Dont think I will be around on Sat unfortunately. Apart from anything else my forks are going to Mojo.....
Well the new black was busy but I think we got caught up with a large group. Yeh, there was alot of questionable riding. Why do they bother if they cant get over a kerb?
I think that is something though that llandegla lacks is a tech dh. I mean its tech if you jump everything but there aren't any proper rock gardens. Then again it is designed to be a fun trail and rough terrain isn't fun for everyone.
How much are mojo charging for the work?
Nothing too much wrong with bike, just decided to get forks sorted (get my missing 5mm of travel back) and figure that they have to change the oil etc when they do the work so its a bit like a free service (which I have found out is £100 otherwise!!!!!). Should have them back early next week. Might be best to do Degla when the weather finally stop pi88ing raining too!!!!!
Just to be clear - Leisurelakes have assured me that the work will not cost anything (I went to a different one and spoke to the manager). I have decided just to ask (when they return) if they will need a service soon or not - I am sure they must change at least the oil to fix the TALAS. By the way warranty is 2 years and not bothered that not serviced yet. Fox manual says rebuild after 18months so might just do that. Gives me another 6 months. As for my 5th elephant - !!!?!?!? Might just wait, kill it and get a Fox DHX?
Sounds good to me mate, least ur forx are going to be sorted. Have noted bout you having problems and me and ian havent, wondering whether this is due to your forks being 05 and mine and Ians being 06. Have wondered if they have been rectified in mine and Ians.
Your spot on with the elephant. May aswell knacker the shock before you upgrade.
