SW Scotland - Better than Glentress / Innerleithen?

It has been suggested by Andrew and his buddies to do a trip to Ae, Mabie, Kirroughtree (basically SW Scots). They (Andrew's buddies) claim that it is better than Glentress and Innerleithen. However, I know that I prefer a different type of ride to them (they are mostly XC orientated - get those saddles down on the DH boys!).

What is the feeling. If I go for a trip (long weekend probably) to Scotland in spring, I want it to be the best it can be. I loved Glentress and would love to go again for the excellent riding AND the play area which was mint. I would also like to go with the AM riders!!!!!!

Who thinks what?

Im not getting into that argument, I have ridden Ae, Ian and Jim have ridden Ae, Mabie and parts of Kirroughtree. They are all good rides. Ae is very rough-their xc arses will be taking a pounding with saddles up. Finishes with amazing jumps/freeride. 20ft doubles! Which can be rolled. I loved Ae and have been wanting to go again.

Personally, I agree with the masses and find Tweed valley to be the best, Black at Glentress is my fav trail.

What matters is that you wouldnt be dissapointed with the riding. If I came up and poss Ian and Jim we could have a play on sections and figure them out instead of blasting around. (especially end of Ae and mcmoab at kirroughtree) Which if I remember that annoyed you on your last trip.

I know you probably want to go back to tweed valley-as I do, but I do want to do the other stanes that I havent done yet-as long as there is no mention of glentrool!

Iya! I haven't ridden Glentress and Innerleithen yet so I wouldn't really know. I'd say that from what I've heard it'd suit our riding more in the Tweed Valley as its the harder stuff.
On the other hand me and Jim had a great time when we rode in the Dumfries area. None of it would disappoint you Neil and Ae does have a very fun ending! Mabie is a sweet little blast which flows really well with Ae and Dalbeattie being the more technical trails.
Its all good really! If we went to the SW we could get a wooden wigwam!
