Fox Forx...........

Well my forx are back at goldtec. Tried to get the service cost for free but it didnt happen, always worth a go! Anyway, I rang mojo and I have had to have new lowers and internals. Lowers were cracked and the internals blown. Fair enough, its all been sorted out under warranty but that leaves me with little faith in the forks. Its not as if im doing cliff drops. So, do I stick with them under the remaining warranty or get something before they fail on me??!?! I will have a chat to kev 2moro. He says that fox always come back with a big bill. I certainly don't want that after the warranty runs out.
So that leaves me with marzocchi z1 (which got 8/10 in mbuk) 66's or all mountains, magura wotan (which has handlebar mounted thing and I am yet to see a test) and the rockshox lyrik. Kev says the bloke at rockshox is cool and he doesnt have any problems with them. Its all a case of deciding whether air is good enough for abuse. The lightweight makes sense for the climbs but judgin by my forks not for the descents or jumping. Its that word again, compromise. Dont you just hate it!

Yeh its all compromise. I just hope your forks are a one off! As for compromise I'd rather have more weight on bikes like the Enduro and Patriot and not be worrying about stuff breaking. But that is because I've got my rockhopper for doing longer rides on..

As the warranty has now been extended I'd use them for another 10 months or so and then probably sell them on. Just see how you go on with them and keep your eye on them. I will be with mine!

Well the lowers will be brand new and will prob come with shims between the axle bolts (so you cant overtighten) Neils forks came back with then shims in place.

Yeh I think I will stick with them for a bit then maybe some of the new z1s in orange! I should of asked them where the crack was because I usually notice stuff through cleaning. Must of been not in an obvious place.

I am also concerned. I guess it is a case of whether you cut your losses now and try to recover some money or run them and potentially have more costs... I guess the warranty should cover most of it, but then in a year you wont get as much $$$$ for them if you sell. Hmmmm. If there was something to replace them with that I thought was mint I probably would, but I dont think there is really. Like J says compromise! Arrgrhrhr Maybe I will carry on and see what happends....

Well I dont think we should have to cut our losses. They arent up to the job and I do not see why we should have to pay. I want a fork I can rely on. Like I said in email neil I wil chat to Kev and see what he suggests. To be fair to him he does sort me out

Also Bruv, Neil has found out that It doesnt look like mine are a one off problem. He has found some common problems after researching. Weak paper thin stanchions, Blown internals, Cracked lowers, talas problems, only work for two months after a service etc
